Knox Cropper is committed to producing first class work, but we also know that clients value our friendly and approachable service. In order to foster this, we aim to recruit the very best people.
We have an enviable record of staff retention and we pride ourselves on developing home grown talent. However, we do occasionally recruit experienced professionals who share in our ethos and who are seeking a positive development in their career. We welcome speculative enquiries from exceptional professionals sharing our passion.
Knox Cropper has a proud tradition of developing future talent in the accountancy world. Our founder, George Walter Knox, was chairman of the ICAEW’s examination committee for 18 years, whilst Lionel Cuthbert Cropper wrote many text books to assist students in learning the accountancy profession. It is no surprise that the firm continues that commitment to developing future generations of accountants today.
To that end, Knox Cropper has registered training offices for both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Our offices recruit graduate trainees each year to study primarily for the ICAEW exams. Interviews normally take place in April and May with a view to commencing employment in August, but start dates can be flexible and many of our graduates have joined us later in the year following periods of overseas travel and voluntary work.
Our students have an enviable record in ICAEW exams, including prize winning achievements for excellence. Candidates for graduate positions should therefore be expecting to achieve at least a 2.1 in their degree and should have three good A levels.
During their three years training, our students build up a broad range of auditing and accounting skills and have exposure to both the commercial and not for profit sectors. In addition, there are opportunities for students to have a period of secondment in the firm’s tax department.
Occasionally we also take on trainees looking to become qualified accounting technicians. This is the ideal route for school leavers seeking a structured training route in accountancy as an alternative to university.
We are able to offer a challenging and rewarding career to our employees, and capable and committed individuals can expect rapid promotion to senior positions.
